1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Scannly ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These terms apply to all users of the App.

2. What Scannly Is

Scannly is a personal document scanner and secure storage app that runs entirely on your device. It allows you to scan physical documents using your device camera or import images from your gallery, organise them as PDFs, and store them — optionally in an encrypted secure vault protected by a password and biometric authentication.

3. Licence to Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or reverse-engineer any part of the App.

4. Your Responsibility for Your Documents

You are solely responsible for all documents you scan, store, and manage using Scannly. You must not use the App to store, distribute, or handle documents that:

Are illegal under any applicable law

Infringe the intellectual property rights of others

Contain material that is harmful, defamatory, or fraudulent

Belong to someone else without their permission

Scannly has no visibility into the content you store. Responsibility for what is stored remains entirely with you.

5. Data Storage & Device Responsibility

All your documents are stored exclusively on your device. Because Scannly has no server backup:

Deleting the App permanently deletes all your documents.

Switching to a new phone means your documents do not transfer automatically.

Factory resetting your device will erase all Scannly data.

If you forget your vault password, there is no recovery mechanism — encrypted documents cannot be accessed without the correct password.

We strongly recommend using the Share / Export feature to save copies of critical documents before switching or resetting your device. We are not liable for any data loss arising from device changes, app deletion, or forgotten vault passwords.

6. Vault Password

The vault password you create is known only to you. It is never sent to any server. If you forget it, your encrypted documents cannot be recovered — not by you, not by us. This is intentional and is the security model that makes the vault secure. Please store your password safely.

7. Advertising

Scannly is free to use and is supported by a small number of non-intrusive banner advertisements served by Google AdMob. By using the App, you acknowledge and agree that:

Ads may be displayed on general screens such as the home screen and settings.

Ads will never appear inside the Secure Vault or within any document viewer.

The AdMob SDK may collect a resettable advertising identifier for ad personalisation (see Privacy Policy for details).

You can opt out of personalised ads at any time via your device's privacy settings.

8. No Warranty

Scannly is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. Use the App at your own risk.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of documents, loss of data, or inability to access your vault. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App (which is zero, as it is free).

10. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, branding, and features of Scannly are the intellectual property of the Scannly developer. The name "Scannly", its icon, and its user interface may not be used without written permission.

11. Permitted Use

Scannly is intended for personal use — scanning your own documents, receipts, ID cards, notes, and similar materials. You may not use Scannly to build a competing product, scrape its design, or use it as part of a commercial service without written permission.

12. Third-Party Services

The App uses Google AdMob for advertising. This service is governed by Google's own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which are independent of these terms. We are not responsible for Google's practices.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. When we do, the revised version will be included in the next app update. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We will always keep advertising and vault security disclosures accurate and up to date.

14. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer is based. Any disputes shall be resolved in accordance with those laws.

15. Contact

If you have questions about these terms, please contact us through the App Store listing or the contact information provided on our app page.

ℹ️

Key points to remember: your documents are on your device only — back them up before switching phones. Your vault password is unrecoverable by design. Ads appear only on general screens, never near your documents.
