Your Documents — Fully Offline

Scannly's core functionality — scanning, storing, encrypting, and viewing your documents — works completely offline. Your documents are never uploaded to any server, never stored in cloud storage, and never shared with anyone. They live only on your device.

What Scannly Does Differently

🔒

AES-256 Encryption

Every document saved in the Secure Vault is encrypted with AES-256 before being written to disk. Even if someone extracts your phone's storage, the files are unreadable without your vault password.

👆

Biometric Authentication

Your vault can be locked behind Face ID or fingerprint. No password to type, no OTP to wait for — just your face or touch, on your device, instantly.

📡

Fully Offline

Unlike other document apps that require an account, OTP verification, or internet access to function, Scannly works with zero connectivity. No account. No sign-up. No email. Open the app and it's ready.

🗂️

One Place for Every Document

Bank cards in one app, IDs in another, receipts in a third — that juggling ends with Scannly. Scan anything, organise it, and find it in seconds. All in one place, all on your phone.

🚫

No Analytics, No Tracking

Scannly collects zero analytics, zero telemetry, and zero usage data. There is no "usage statistics" opt-in. We simply never built it.

What We Access and Why

Scannly requests the following permissions only when you choose to use those features:

📷
Camera
To capture document images for scanning.
🖼️
Photo Library
To let you import existing images from your gallery.
👆
Biometrics / Face ID
To unlock the Secure Vault without a password.

No permission is ever used to transmit data. All processing happens locally on your device.

Data Storage

All scanned documents, thumbnails, and PDFs are stored in your app's private sandboxed directory — a location that is inaccessible to other apps on your device. Secure vault documents are additionally encrypted before storage.

What Happens If You Delete the App

This is the trade-off that makes Scannly secure: because everything lives only on your device, deleting the app or switching to a new phone means your documents are gone. There is no recovery from a server backup because there is no server. We recommend exporting important documents as PDFs (using the Share button) before switching devices.

Advertising & What the Ad SDK Collects

To keep Scannly free, we display a small number of non-intrusive banner ads in the app. Ads are shown only on general screens (home, settings) and are never shown inside the Secure Vault, inside any document viewer, or anywhere your sensitive content is visible.

Ads are served by Google AdMob. When an ad is loaded, the AdMob SDK may collect the following on your device:

📱
Advertising ID
A resettable device identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) used to serve relevant ads. You can reset or opt out of this at any time in your device settings.
📍
Approximate location
Country/region derived from IP address for regional ad targeting. No precise GPS location is ever accessed.
📊
Ad interaction events
Whether an ad was shown, tapped, or dismissed — used by AdMob for billing and fraud prevention.

Scannly itself never reads, stores, or processes any of this ad data. Google's privacy policy governs how AdMob handles this information: policies.google.com/privacy. To opt out of personalised ads, go to Settings → Privacy → Advertising on your device.

Third-Party SDKs Used

Beyond AdMob, the only other libraries used in Scannly are for on-device functionality: PDF generation, image cropping, AES-256 encryption, and biometric authentication. None of these connect to the internet or collect any data.

Children's Privacy

Scannly does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. Because nothing is ever collected, there is nothing to protect.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be included in the next app update. The core commitment — your data never leaves your device — will never change.

Your documents never leave your device. The only internet activity in Scannly is limited ads on non-sensitive screens — never inside the vault or document viewer. Your files are yours, encrypted, and invisible to the world.
